Suvarnabhumi Airport

General Information

Officially opened on September 28, 2006, Suvarnabhumi Airport covers an approximate area of 8,000 acres (20,000 rais). It is located at Km.15 on the east-bound Bangna-Trat Highway in Bang Phli District of Samut Prakarn province, about 25 kms.(40-60 minutes) from Bangkok downtown.

  1. From the North : the airport can be reached via the eight-lane Bangkok - Chonburi elevated expressway linked to the passenger terminal
  2. From the Northwest : it is accessible via a six-lane road linking to the Rom Khlao and King Kaew elevated expressway
  3. From the South : it can be reached via a four-lane road connecting with Bangna - Trat Highway and the Buraphavithi Expressway
  4. From the Northeast: the airport is accessible via a four-lane road that connects with On-Nut Road
  5. From the West: it can be reached via a four-lane road connecting with King Kaew Road (new route) to the passenger terminal

At present, Airport Rail Link operates 2 types of service between Suvarnabhumi Airport - Makkasan - Phayathai.

SA Express - provides transportation service between Bangkok City Air Terminal (BCAT) from Makkasan to Suvarnabhumi Airport within 15 minutes from 06.00 to 24.00, which stops only at Makkasan Station (original terminal) and Suvarnabhumi Station (end terminal). It costs 100 baht for one day round-trip ticket.

SA City Line - provides service between Phyathai Station to the end terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport within 30 minutes from 06.00 to 24.00, which stop at 6 stations along the way such as Rajprarop Station, Makkasan Station, Ramkhamhaeng Station, Hua Mark Station, Thab Chang Station, and Lad Krabang Station. It costs 15 baht for one-way ticket.

Passenger Terminal Complex (PTC)

The PTC has 10 entrance gates accessed by 2 roads which are Inner Curb and Outer Curb. It is combined with the connected 7 concourses which are A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Concourses A, B are for domestic flights and the others are for international flights. Domestic and International passenger services are handled under the same roof.
