You can use miles for excess luggage beginning at 10 kilos over your allotted weight, or using the piece concept to the USA, and in additional increments of 5 kilos up to a maximum of 30 kilos.

At airport check-in in Bangkok, at Least 2 hours prior to flight departure, determine the amount of excess baggage and go to THAI Customer Service where miles are instantly deducted from your account, then present the receipt provided at   check-in. You can even redeem for an Award Nominee, however you must also be present at check-in to authorize mileage deduction from your account.
